Your learning stays centered on your device.

  • No Spell-Up account is required.
  • Photos are processed on device for text recognition.
  • Only requested text is sent to provide AI text or speech features.
  • Purchases are handled by Apple.
  • We do not sell data, show ads, or track you across apps.

This Privacy Policy explains how Spell-Up ("Spell-Up," "we," or "us") handles information when you use the Spell-Up iPhone and iPad app. By using the app, you acknowledge the practices described below.

01

Information Spell-Up processes

Spell-Up does not require you to create an account. The app processes the words, word lists, spelling results, settings, and practice history that you choose to enter or create. This information is stored on your device.

When you take or select a photo to create a word list, text recognition is performed on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Spell-Up does not upload the photo to our servers.

02

Smart sentence, definition, and speech features

When you use smart context, definition, or text-to-speech features, the word or short text needed to provide that feature is sent to Alibaba Cloud DashScope. DashScope returns generated text or audio. Spell-Up does not send your photos, Apple ID, payment details, or practice history with these requests. Avoid entering personal or sensitive information in word lists.

03

iCloud synchronization

Spell-Up uses Apple iCloud Key-Value Storage to synchronize your free-trial usage count across devices signed in to the same Apple ID. Apple operates iCloud and processes this information under Apple's privacy policy. Your word lists and practice history are not synchronized by Spell-Up through this feature.

04

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through StoreKit. Spell-Up receives only the information needed to determine whether an entitlement is active. We do not receive or store your payment card details, Apple ID password, or complete billing information.

05

How information is used

Information is used only to provide spelling practice, remember your settings and progress, synchronize the trial allowance, generate requested learning content, play speech, and verify purchases. Spell-Up does not sell personal information, serve third-party advertising, or track you across apps and websites.

06

Storage and retention

On-device information remains until you delete it in the app or remove the app. Trial usage stored in iCloud remains subject to your iCloud account and Apple's retention practices. Requests handled by Apple and Alibaba Cloud are subject to those providers' applicable terms and privacy practices. We do not maintain our own user-account database.

07

Children's privacy

Spell-Up is a learning tool and does not require a child to provide a name, email address, or account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents and guardians should help children avoid entering personal or sensitive information into word lists or smart features.

08

Your choices

You may use spelling practice without enabling smart sentence or definition features. Camera and photo access are optional and controlled in iOS Settings. You can delete word lists and practice records in the app, manage subscriptions in your Apple ID settings, and remove local app data by deleting the app.

09

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Spell-Up's features or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the latest version.
